A gunman attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, positioning himself on the roof of a manufacturing plant more than 130 yards away—just over the length of a football field—from the stage.
The open-air event took place at the Butler Farm Show grounds, where the large, sprawling fields provided the sniper with a clear line of sight to the former president from his elevated vantage point.
Sources said that the counter-sniper team, stationed on the roof of another building near Trump and behind the audience stands, returned fire and killed the shooter.
The sniper’s body was found on the roof of a building belonging to AGR International, Inc., a supplier of automation equipment for the glass and plastic packaging industry. The AGR International complex is adjacent to the farm show grounds, separated only by a chain-link fence.
The shots were fired from atop the AGR International building, situated behind and to the left of the rallygoers, who were focused on the stage as Trump spoke.
