- Asokoro Hospital Celebrates New Year with Renewed Hope for Families
The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, marked the arrival of the first baby of 2025 with a heartwarming visit to the Asokoro General Hospital in Abuja.
Represented by the wife of the Vice President, Nana Shettima, Mrs. Tinubu celebrated the birth of Favour Stephen Odion, a baby girl born at 12:27 am, weighing 3.6kg.
The First Lady also welcomed Zimchikachim Ejiofor, the first baby boy of the year, born at 7:14 am and weighing 3kg. Both babies received thoughtful gifts, including post-natal care items, nutritional supplies, and cash tokens, alongside certificates presented by Vice President Shettima.
In her message, Senator Tinubu prayed for the children’s good health, prosperity, and long lives. “These newborns are the next generation to take over from us. Please take good care of them,” she urged while advocating for exclusive breastfeeding, timely immunization, and proper post-natal care for the infants.
The First Lady’s visit was part of her commitment to maternal and child health under the Renewed Hope Initiative, a program aimed at supporting vulnerable groups, particularly women and children.
Dr. Rosemary Nwokorie, acting Chief Medical Director of Asokoro General Hospital, lauded the administration’s dedication to healthcare reform, emphasizing that the Tinubu-led government is transforming the health sector to improve services for all Nigerians.
The celebratory atmosphere at the hospital extended beyond the maternity ward as the First Lady congratulated other new mothers, reinforcing her dedication to ensuring a brighter future for Nigerian children.
