The management of Agidigbo FM has denied reports claiming that its chairman, Oriyomi Hamzat, along with Naomi Silekunola, the estranged wife of the Ooni of Ife, and Abdullahi Fasasi, the Principal of Islamic High School, have been released from prison.

In a statement shared on Oriyomi Hamzat’s official Facebook page on Saturday, the management dismissed the reports as “fake news” and urged the public to disregard them. The statement also warned individuals spreading such rumors to desist from their actions.

“The management of Agidigbo FM has described as fake news the rumors circulating that the chairman of Agidigbo 88.7FM, Oriyomi Hamzat; ex-queen of Ooni of Ife, Naomi Silekunola; and the Principal of Islamic High School, Abdullahi Fasasi, have been released from prison. We urge the public to disregard the rumors and caution those propagating them to stop,” the statement read.

Reports suggest that Naomi Silekunola, who is currently detained at Agodi prison following the stampede that claimed 35 lives in Ibadan, is on a hunger strike. Her mother, Mrs. Funmilayo Ogunseyi, revealed during an interview that her daughter was unwell when she visited her at the custodial center on Thursday.

“She wasn’t happy about the whole incident. She loves children deeply and has always been a strong advocate for their welfare. The queen is still in pain over the loss of those children, especially since her intentions were pure,” Ogunseyi said.

Ogunseyi noted that Silekunola has a long history of organizing charitable events to support children, single mothers, and widows.

Meanwhile, Oriyomi Hamzat and Abdullahi Fasasi were arraigned on December 24 before a Magistrate Court in Ibadan and subsequently remanded in prison. The case continues to attract significant public attention.
