Gunmen abducted five individuals on Saturday in Obbo-Ayegunle, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State. The victims, returning from a marriage ceremony in Ope town, Kogi State, were ambushed around 4 p.m.
Among those kidnapped are Oloye Oyewole Abolarin, head of hunters in Odo-Owa, his wife Funmilayo Abolarin, Tunde Oladipo and his wife, and another individual identified as Bose, all from the Agbele Igbede compound in Odo-Owa.
The kidnappers have demanded a N100 million ransom for their release. In response, family members and the community have begun raising funds to meet the demand while pleading for intervention from Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and security agencies.
Meanwhile, an unconfirmed report suggests another kidnapping occurred on Monday along the Omu-Aran highway, heightening concerns over security in the area.
Efforts to reach the state police spokesperson, DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun, were unsuccessful as calls and messages to her phone went unanswered at the time of this report.
