- Capital Projects Take Priority in 2025 Appropriation
- Increased Funding for Agriculture to Spur Economic Growth
Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has officially signed the 2025 Appropriation Bill into law, approving a total budget of N675 billion. The budget, themed “Budget of Renewed Hope for a Rising Edo,” was recently passed by the Edo State House of Assembly.
During the signing ceremony held at the Government House in Benin City, Governor Okpebholo expressed optimism that the budget would drive economic growth and enhance the delivery of democratic dividends to the people of Edo State.
He stated:
“I have just signed into law a budget of N675,220,058,858.52, tagged ‘Budget of Renewed Hope for a Rising Edo.’ This budget is designed to rejuvenate the state’s economy and bring tangible benefits to our citizens.”
The governor emphasized that a significant portion of the budget is allocated to capital expenditure, reflecting the administration’s dedication to implementing large-scale infrastructure projects in the coming year.
Governor Okpebholo also commended the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, and other lawmakers for their swift passage of the bill.
Earlier, while presenting the budget to the governor, Speaker Agbebaku highlighted that the initial proposal of N605 billion was increased to ensure additional resources were directed to critical sectors, particularly agriculture.
