Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, participated in the 2024 Lagos Boat Regatta, a vibrant celebration showcasing the culture and traditions of Lagos through its waterways.
The event, themed “Our Water, Our Heritage, Our Life,” featured impressive displays of watercraft and regattas from the five divisions of Lagos, underscoring the city’s unique connection to its aquatic ecosystem.
Governor Sanwo-Olu took to his verified Facebook page to highlight the significance of the occasion, describing it as a “revival of culture” and a testament to Lagos’ commitment to leveraging its waterways for both tourism and transportation.

Tinubu Cancels Attendance in Honour of Stampede Victims
President Bola Tinubu, who was initially scheduled to watch the regatta from his Queen’s Drive residence in Ikoyi, cancelled his attendance to honor victims of recent stampedes in Abuja and Okija, Anambra State.
The 2024 Lagos Boat Regatta reflects the state’s ongoing efforts to preserve its heritage while fostering tourism and economic growth through innovative use of its natural resources.
