- Youth Leaders Applaud Kemi Badenoch’s Advocacy Against Corruption and Violence
- Urge Vice President Shettima to Focus on Nigeria’s Mounting Challenges
Yoruba Nation youth leaders have denounced Vice President Kashim Shettima’s suggestion that UK Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch should drop “Kemi,” her Yoruba name. The leaders described the name as a source of pride and symbol of Yoruba heritage, condemning any attempts to undermine it.
In a joint statement, Prophet Ayodele Ologunloluwa and Comrade Oyegunle Oluwamayowa Omotoyole praised Badenoch for her bold criticism of corruption and insecurity in Nigeria. They hailed her vocal stance against violent activities by Boko Haram and Fulani herdsmen, which have devastated Yoruba communities in the Southwest.
“We stand in solidarity with Kemi Badenoch as she highlights Nigeria’s pressing issues, including systemic corruption and the violent acts targeting our people. Her Yoruba identity is a beacon of pride for us,” the statement read.
The youth leaders urged Vice President Shettima to focus on critical issues affecting Nigeria, such as the failing economy, rampant kidnappings, and ineffective governance.
“It is imperative that Shettima addresses these urgent national problems instead of distracting from them with unnecessary critiques of Badenoch,” they added.
Calling for unity, the group encouraged Yoruba youths to support figures like Badenoch, who demonstrate integrity and uphold the values of justice and accountability. They also reiterated their commitment to safeguarding Yoruba heritage and fostering dialogue for a united yet diverse Nigerian future.
