Dele Farotimi’s book, Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System, has surged to bestseller status on Amazon, following his arrest after a petition from prominent lawyer Afe Babalola. The 93-year-old Babalola claims the book accuses him of compromising Nigeria’s judiciary. Published in July 2024, the book critiques systemic corruption and has now sparked a nationwide rush to uncover its contents.

Farotimi, arrested in Lagos and transferred to Ado Ekiti, was arraigned Wednesday. His bail hearing is set for December 10. Public curiosity over the arrest has propelled the book’s global sales.
