Ex-Kogi Gov Yahaya Bello Reappears at EFCC Over Alleged Fund Mismanagement

Date:

  • Bello visits EFCC amidst legal battles and fresh allegations.
  • Court adjourns arraignment as anti-graft probe intensifies.

Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has once again honored an invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of misappropriating public funds. Bello arrived at the EFCC headquarters on Tuesday morning, accompanied by his legal team.

Sources revealed that the former governor drove himself in a black Hilux to the anti-graft agency’s office. His appearance comes in the wake of a Supreme Court ruling affirming the constitutional powers of the EFCC.

Legal Proceedings Intensify

During a November 14 hearing, the EFCC requested an adjournment for fresh charges filed against Bello before Justice Maryanne Anenih of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja. The agency cited an ongoing 30-day summons window.

The court granted administrative bail to Bello’s co-defendants, Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, while extending the timeframe for Bello’s arraignment. The case is set to continue on November 27.

Lingering Speculations

Speculations had surfaced last week about Bello’s potential visit to the EFCC, but his media team declined to confirm. As investigations proceed, the former governor remains under scrutiny for alleged financial misconduct during his tenure.
