  • Okpebholo prioritizes security in Edo State.
  • Vows to end cult-related killings and restore peace.

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has directed security agencies to intensify efforts in making the state unsafe for criminal elements, particularly targeting cult-related activities.

This directive was issued during the governor’s inaugural security meeting held on Monday night in Benin City, the state capital.

In a statement on Tuesday by Fred Itua, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Okpebholo reiterated his administration’s commitment to prioritizing the safety and security of all residents.

Zero Tolerance for Cultism and Crime

Governor Okpebholo expressed strong disapproval of recent cult-related killings in the state, pledging to take firm actions against those perpetuating violence.

“During my campaign, I made it clear that security is a top priority for my administration,” he said.
“The rate of cultism in Edo is unacceptable, and we will not sit idle while lives are lost. Criminals must be smoked out, no matter where they hide. Edo must be safe for everyone.”

The governor urged security agencies to collaborate effectively in tackling the issue and emphasized the need for decisive measures to halt the ongoing clashes, especially in Benin City.

A Rising Concern

The state has witnessed a resurgence of cult-related violence, resulting in several fatalities. The governor’s renewed focus on security aims to curb the menace and restore peace across the state.

Okpebholo’s directive signals a firm stance against criminal elements and a call to action for law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of Edo residents.
