Justice John Oyewole Adeyeye, the Chief Judge of Ekiti State, has passed away following a brief illness. He died on Monday, November 4, 2024, at a tertiary healthcare facility in Ekiti State.
While official details about the cause of his death have yet to be released, sources indicated that he was hospitalized for a short period before his passing.
Justice Adeyeye was appointed Chief Judge on October 11, 2021, by former Governor Kayode Fayemi. Born in 1960 in Araromi Ugbesi, Ekiti East Local Government Area, he was called to the bar in 1986.
His career began as a State Counsel in the Civil Service of the former Ondo State, and he later transitioned to the Ekiti State Judiciary Service Commission after Ekiti State’s establishment in 1996.
He was elevated to the position of High Court judge in 2002 and served on multiple election petition tribunals over the years, leaving a notable legacy in Ekiti State’s judicial system.
